The Glory of God

Just a few takeaways from Sunday's message:

1) One way of giving glory to God is to be committed to character.
2) Rooting out sin is another way of giving glory to God.
3) We can give glory to God by engaging in mission.

"When we raise our eyes from human disappointment to give glory to God, we refresh our souls remembering God's infinite faithfulness" - from our very own Pastor David Hegg

Lessons from 1 Timothy

Logan and I have decided to go over 1 Timothy, one chapter day (on repeat) until we have gotten a good study from it. I have been horrible about spending consistent time in the word for a while, so this has been a good discipline to get me back into storing up God's word in my heart. I'm thankful for God's inerrant word, where I can trust in the truths about God's character, remind me of the need for repentance, learn how to obey God, and help me to not sin against Him.

Just jotting down some quick thoughts so far:
  • Logan and I both find it interesting how there is a smaller portion on qualifications of deacons/leaders but a rather lengthy portion on widowers. Must have been very applicable during that time, but I'm trying to see in what ways I can be impartial and loving towards all people, whatever stage of life/circumstance they're in (widowers, elderly, Christian, non-Christian, divorced, single, married, children, whoever!)
  • I didn't realize until recently how often Paul shares of the gospel in 1 Timohy (1:15-17; 2:5; 4:10)
  • Thankful for my past pastors who have proven themselves to be godly leaders with humility (P.Cho, J.Kim). 1 Timothy 6:3-6
