i'll be home for christmas

there are only three days left of my LAST winter break evarrrrrrr.
so what have i been doing?

playing with friends...

celebrating the birth of Christ with my nearest and dearest...

witnessing my babygurl get proposed to & planning an engagement party for her & her fiance (yeah, no biggie)...

eating good food...and lots of it!

what an amazing blessing for one of my best friends to get engaged! i'm so eggcited yet sad at the same time. it's saddening to think that the trio is going to part ways once we all graduate. =( at least we have six more months to milk every moment of our senior year together. <3 congrats, mel! i love you!

in the crafting mood

the past few days, i've been a homebody. rather than just being a couch-potato, i thought it'd be good to actually do something productive. so i've been spending most of my hours in my family room, turning it into a craft room of mayhem.

project numero uno: homemade card
-made with felt, rhinestones, doilies, and cardstock paper

the card is for my secret santa, whom i haven't given to yet, so i had to blur out the name. i don't think she reads my blog anyway =)

project numero dos: pom-pom flowers
-these were just made out of yarn, floral wire, and some brown tape
learned how to make them at http://ruffledblog.com/diy-tuesdays-pom-pom-yarn-flowers/

project numero tres: stuffed penguin
-made out of felt, string, and printed cloth
got the idea from this website: http://plushkacraft.blogspot.com/2010/11/miss-and-mr-penguin.html
regarding the cloth, i was looking everywhere around the house trying to find scraps of printed cloth, but i failed to find any. this morning, i happened to run into a clown-looking outfit for a toy. i initially thought it was hideous when i saw it, but i liked the striped pattern & thought it'd be cute for the penguin. it turned out to look okay!

project numero cuatro: unfinished 3 interpretations of a magazine model
-i used a calligraphy pen for the top right interpretation and acrylic paint for the lower left interpretationsad thing is, i started this my senior year in high school...that was four years ago. and i'm still not done with it! haha, i completely forgot about this thing until i found it hiding behind our old piano. i still need to finish inking in the top right part, but i have no idea what to do with my last interpretation. any suggestions?

submission

i have to admit, i always thought that submission was something i've never had trouble with,
but i'm learning more and more of my sinful nature & how i'm not willing to follow authority's leadership.

so thankful for God's strength & His word to depend on. if it were up to me, my flesh would fail to listen to authority.

entering the world of hair

a few friends have advised me to create a blog for all the hair that i've done for special occasions in the past. i don't think i'm quite ready to make a blog specifically on hair. honestly, i'm a little embarrassed to publicly display this post. thoughts like "people must think this is a joke...i'm so amateur" or "what if they think that i'm doing this to boast about myself?" have ran through my head a number of times. i realized that those thoughts only show my concern with man's approval. rather than constantly having this fear of man, i want to post this entry simply for my love of doing hair. it's fun; it brings out the artistic side of me; and it's a great way to kill some time w/your girlfriends. =)

so what i'm about to show in blog-land is an "evolution" of hairstyles i've done.

this is my little sister's hair that i did for prom & a formal ball that she went to. aileen was my first guinea pig when it came to hairstyling. ever since 6th grade, i used to make her be my barbie so that i could play around w/hair. even to this day, she is gracious to allow me to practice on her, even if she'd rather do other things. =)

i was privileged to do some of the junior bridesmaids' hairs for the McAdam's wedding. the girls got me excited to help out in this way with their giddiness to get all dolled up. i had a lot of fun working with them.

these two are my favorite to work with in san diego. both gals are/were my roommates during my collegelife, and they've always been willing to let me practice on them.

the most recent wedding party i worked with. these girls were troopers. they were up since 3am getting their hair & makeup done! (good shots taken by chris cho)
